Tue, Jun 1:

  • Recycled Paper Garden Basket
  • Time: 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM

    Did you know that paper is a very durable material?
    Come learn how to weave garden baskets from ordinary brown paper grocery bags. This is a perfect beginning project for new weavers or returning weavers.

    This class is part of Green Week and all students who attend will get free passes to the Seattle Green Festival!

Mon, Jun 7:

  • • Hot Process Soap Making
  • Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
    Location: Cascade Peoples Center
    Come learn to make soap the easy way. Hot process soap making means your soap is ready to use as soon as it has cooled off! We will also discuss cold process soap making, ingredients and other fun soapy topics while our soap cooks.

Wed, Jun 9:

  • The Art and Science of Listening
  • Time: 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
    Location: 6827 Oswego Place NE, Suite B, Seattle, WA 98115
(near Gregg’s Cycle in Greenlake)
    An experiential exploration of different listening styles, and how those styles impact our success in working with others.
    This is the first class in a series of six designed to introduce the Seven Critical Competencies of Teams and to provide participants tools and awarenesses for greater effectiveness. Each 90 minute class will provide attendees with applicable new capacities for working with others.

    Class size is limited, please sign up early and if at all possible please leave children at home. Subsequent classes will be listed on the Seattle Free School site shortly.
    The facilitators are seasoned executives, who are also business coaches with a deep understanding of the human dimension of organizational life.

    Location: Street Bean Espresso
    Is there a skill, hobby, or chunk of knowledge you are passionate about? Want to share that passion with other interested people? Curious about how many people with an aversion to public speaking have come to love being facilitators?

    Come to this class to learn how to be a facilitator with Seattle Free School, and to meet and network with other facilitators. This informal meeting covers what Seattle Free School is, tips on teaching, and how to schedule and promote your course.

    Whether you wish to facilitate a class, or just want to learn more about Seattle Free School, you are welcome to attend this meetup. We recognize that teaching others can be an intimidating task, and we are here to support you and provide assistance in making Seattle Free School a fun adventure for you.

  • All About Tea
  • Time: 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM
    Location: Cascade Peoples Center
    Come and taste the delicious teas that will be provided at this class. Green teas will be highlighted at this tasting. Even if you generally don’t think you like tea or even green tea, you might be pleasantly surprised.

    Find out all the amazing reasons why drinking tea is so healthy and learn about the differences between tea and herbal tisanes.

    There will be a simple description of where tea comes from, how it is processed into white, green, black and oolong teas, and why it is so beneficial to drink green tea every day.

    Location: St. John United Lutheran Church, 55th and Phinney
    Explore research findings about the nature of authentic happiness, how to make individual changes, and the importance of a Gross National Happiness standard.

    Location: Street Bean Espresso
    This class covers the basics of keeping chickens in the city. It includes information on starting with chicks, feed, housing requirements and resources to continue your chicken education. Enrollment for this class is limited so please sign up early and let us know if you can not attend.
