  • Facilitator Class
  • Time: 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM
    Location: Street Bean Espresso
Is there a skill, hobby, or chunk of knowledge you are passionate about? Want to share that passion with other interested people? Curious about how many people with an aversion to public speaking have come to love being facilitators?

Come to this class to learn how to be a facilitator with Seattle Free School, and to meet and network with other facilitators. This informal meeting covers what Seattle Free School is, tips on teaching, and how to schedule and promote your course.

Whether you wish to facilitate a class, or just want to learn more about Seattle Free School, you are welcome to attend this meetup. We recognize that teaching others can be an intimidating task, and we are here to support you and provide assistance in making Seattle Free School a fun adventure for you.

Street Bean Espresso is a nonprofit Belltown café that provides job training and employment for young adults working to exit street life. You can find it at 2702 Third Ave Seattle, WA 98121. For more information on the location please see http://streetbeanespresso.org/

Thu, Jul 22:

  • Making Informed Decisions about what you Eat and Drink
  • Time: 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM
    Location: Ballard Library
Do you get so confused and frustrated by the soundbites about what\'s good/bad for us this week, that you begin to tune it ALL out? Have you given up on ingredient labels because you don\'t have a degree in nutrition or enough hours every week to plan and cook every meal?

Never fear, this book nerd/health professional has been studying health, food and environmental toxins for several years now and is more than willing to share some basic, but little known facts to get you started on the path to a healthier life. And this new path won\'t gauge your pocketbook, steal your much needed free time or ostracize you from your less enthused counterparts. The information given in class will be documented, allowing you to delve deeper should your heart desire.

    Topics will include
-how important is it to buy organic (or is it so important?)
-water, its pH, benefits and logistics
-what\'s happening to our seeds and food(s) before we get them
-the great debate about sugar(s) and their wannabe friends
-where some of the most detrimental toxins can come from
-and little known FDA facts that will shock you!

Feel free to join us and bring a sack lunch or even fast food if you must...
