Thu, Apr 15:

  • Keeping Chickens in the City
  • Time: 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
    Location: Street Bean Espresso
    This class covers the basics of keeping chickens in the city. It includes information on starting with chicks, feed, housing requirements and resources to continue your chicken education. Enrollment for this class is limited so please sign up early and let us know if you can not attend.

    The class is at Street Bean Espresso. Street Bean Espresso is a nonprofit Belltown café that provides job training and employment for young adults working to exit street life.   • Facilitating a Seattle Free School class
  • Time: 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM
    Location: Ballard Library Meeting Room
    Is there a skill, hobby, or chunk of knowledge you are passionate about? Want to share that passion with other interested people? Curious about how many people with an aversion to public speaking have come to love being facilitators?

    Come to this class to learn how to be a facilitator with Seattle Free School, and to meet and network with other facilitators. This informal meeting covers what Seattle Free School is, tips on teaching, and how to schedule and promote your course.

    Whether you wish to facilitate a class, or just want to learn more about Seattle Free School, you are welcome to attend this meetup. We recognize that teaching others can be an intimidating task, and we are here to support you and provide assistance in making Seattle Free School a fun adventure for you.

  • 3D Print & Design Workshop - Thought to Thing in 4hrs
  • Time: 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM
    Location: Jigsaw Renaissance 1026 Madison Seattle, WA 98104
    An introduction to 3d Printing and Design with a Makerbot Cupcake CNC
    Rep(St)rap.

    The workshop will encompass a brief history of open-source Rep(St)rap
    printers, their capabilities, and possible future.
    We\'ll go over the steps it takes to design and print from a Rep(St)rap machine.

    There will be an \"experimental\" part of the workshop where the class will
    collaboratively design a (small) printable object which we\'ll then
    print out in class.

    The whole design process from idea, to computer model, to physical object
    can take less than 2hrs for simple designs.

    The instructor will guide the design process, operate the CAD
    software, and Makerbot printer.

    Prerequisites: Attendees are strongly encouraged to visit
    http://www.makerbot.com and http://www.thingiverse.com to gain some
    knowledge of printing capabilities and possible design ideas.

  • Making Pasta, Ravioli and Gnocchi
  • Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
    Location: Cascade Peoples Center
    Do you love fresh pasta but think it is too hard to make at home? Then this class is for you! Making pasta can be easy and delicious. This class will start by making pasta from simply flour and eggs, then we will move on to make our pasta into butternut squash ravioli and finally we will also learn to make delicious gnocchi!
